Response 1 November 29, 1999 [David,] There are those in need who are too proud to accept help, even from family and friends, therefore I think Hale's argument still has merit. There are moral considerations of this contract between the would-be beneficiary and the would-be Samaratan. Even the Declaration of Independence mentions the human inclination to suffer rather than to act. Hale's argument is still especially true for illegal immigrants who do not enjoy the protection of our laws and work as pseudo-slaves for the people who brought them here ... they are property! What about their contract? Were they 'coerced' by poverty or war in their homeland to come here? [Steve R.] Send comments and suggestions to David Robert Foss © 2000 David Robert Foss |
